Herbal Help for BPH (1)
One of the first published medical reports on the
benefits of Cernilton appeared almost 40 years ago. Since then, numerous studies have
confirmed its ability to improve urinary flow and decrease inflammation associated with
BPH. Its active ingredient is not known, but it appears to be a combination of plant
hormones, fats and proteins. In a study done in Wales and reported in 1995, 60 men with
symptomatic BPH were given Cernilton for a six-month period. At the end of the study, 69%
described an improvement in symptoms, compared to 30% of men who received a placebo. In a
study published in Japan, 79 men ages 62 to 89 with symptomatic BPH were given Cernilton
daily for 12 weeks. Results showed that 85% responded to some degree, with 50% reporting
good to excellent improvement. In 28 of the patients for whom the study was extended for a
full year, Cernilton even appears to have shrunk their enlarged prostates.
